  • Il titolo italiano non riesce a rendere il gioco di parole su cui si basa l'originale: infatti, in inglese, il nome Ernest viene pronunciato nello stesso modo dell'aggettivo earnest, che significa onesto. Risulta ben chiara, perciò, la sfumatura ironica del titolo, in quanto entrambi i protagonisti non si chiamano Ernest e risultano essere tutt'altro che dei campioni di onestà.
  • Il film è stato premiato al Nastro d'Argento per i costumi.
